​Back to the Root: An Urban River Revitalization Plan 

The report is intended to guide and inform the redevelopment and revitalization of the Root River in the City of Racine. The vision to create an identity for the river took shape over two years of public conversations with residents, stakeholders and the City staff. The plan brings together the best elements of existing plans and lays out a holistic vision for the future of the river that ensures water quality improvement and public access and brings beauty and functionality to the riverfront.

RootWorks-Revitalizing Racine's Urban River Corridor
This Plan fosters the renewal of Racine’s historic industrial district with a vision developed through neighborhood input, stakeholder interviews and extensive market research. This community vision links River access and innovative stormwater run-off management techniques to Racine’s heritage while bolstering economic growth.​

A Park and Open Space Plan for the City of Racine: 2035
This plan reflects recent park and open space acquisition and development activities within the City and other recent planning efforts. This plan is intended to maintain City eligibility to apply for and receive Federal and State aids in support of the acquisition and development of park and open space sites and facilities.

The purpose of the report card is to educate the public about the health of the Root River by spreading awareness of its current condition, sharing the most up-to-date data on water quality, and providing actionable information on how individuals and communities can contribute to improving the river's health.
